Smith summer of fun week 2!

This summer is flying by!  We are having so much fun getting our summer bucket list complete.  In the last week we have completed the following:

We went to the Library.

Landry loves going to the library, so this was an easy one.  We got some fun books and movies for the car ride down to Galveston.

We saw fireworks.

While we were in Galveston, they have an annual fireworks show on the water, and we walked down and sat on a big bench and watched the show.

We rode a roller coaster!

This one was a fun one!  At first, when I added this to the list I assumed we would be going to Six Flags sometime this summer, but then when we got to the pier and I saw that roller coaster, I knew it was the perfect one for our list!  At first, Landry was gung ho about it, but then when we got up there and sat in the ride, she started to get a little scared.  Unfortunately, there was no time to be scared because once they strapped you in, we were off!  Luckily, two little girls sat next to Landry and told her that it was fun, and that made it a little better for her.  She ended up loving it!  She talked about it for the rest of the day!

We baked homemade cookies!

Lately, we’ve been making homemade brownies to send with daddy to work for the guys that work for him.  But this week we decided to check another item off the bucket list and made him homemade funfetti cookies.  They were a hit!

So far, we are having such a good time checking these items off our list.  I love spending time with them and seeing what all there is new for us to explore and do!

4th of July in Galveston

This past weekend, Tim parents, my parents and us loaded up and headed to Galveston for our annual July 4th trip.  We love going to Galveston for a long weekend.  It’s the perfect area to go to for just a few days.  And this year, we ventured out and tried something new!

Here we are, ready to load up and head out!

We took two cars. My parents, Landry and Debbie in one car, and Tim, Mike, myself and Hayden in the other car.  I got to see this sweet face the whole way there!

Friday was beach day, and Hayden’s first time to get in the ocean!

He wasn’t crazy about the waves, but he loved just sitting in my lap in the water.

That night on the 4th, we did our annual crab boil and then walked to the water to watch the fireworks they have there.

Hayden could have cared less about the fireworks, and fell asleep just before they started!

Saturday, we decided to go to the Pleasure Pier for the first time.  They built it a few years ago, and we always say we want to go, but never have.  I’m glad we chose this year.  Landry was the right height to do all the rides!  I’m a roller coaster junkie, and no one in my family will ever ride them with me, but Landry loves them and now I have my riding partner!

Saturday evening, we went to a nice dinner at Landry’s restaurant.  Our Landry got such a kick out of a restaurant with her name on it.

After dinner, we went and changed and went back to the pier to ride a few rides.  Landry got to choose 5 rides and her last one was this kiddie ride!  She had ridden some of the biggest rides there, but the one she really wanted to ride was this one!

Sunday morning, we loaded up and headed back home.  Again, I got to sit in the back with this smiley boy!

I had such a great time on this trip.  My family is so important to me, and I love the fact that Tim’s parents join us and love going too!  But, the best thing to me was getting 4 uninterrupted days with my people.  I love these kiddos so much!

And spending time with my hubby and kids is not a bad way to spend my vacation!

Our fun weekend!

This weekend was such a fun one!  We spent lots of time with friends and family and also had a little bit of downtime, just the way we like it!

Friday night, we had double date night with the Borgmans!  We love Ben and Kari and enjoy our time with them.  We had yummy hibachi and then frozen yogurt.  Such a sweet time with friends.

Saturday morning, daddy went to play golf so we stayed in our pj's for the morning and played.  Hayden adores his big sister and always wants to be with her.  I love this!

Saturday night, we went out for Dani’s birthday with her friends.  We had such a great time!  Love my baby sister.

Her 29th Birthday was yesterday, so we went to her and Bobby’s house and swam for the afternoon.

My sweet girl

My lil man

Happy Birthday to my baby sister.  I love you so much, and I love having you as a sister.

This morning, as I was getting ready for work, Landry was playing in my closet and came out wearing my new hat.  Love her!

Smith Summer of Fun!

A few months ago, I started thinking about how much time I spend with my children and then I realized I don’t spend enough quality time with them.  I might see them all the time, but am I making memories or spending the time they need with me?

This is officially Landry’s last summer before she starts school, and I want her to go to school with a great attitude and a loving heart.  I know my actions affect her because I see her mimicking me all the time.

So, with that being said, I wanted to come up with some fun summer ideas for us.  I’ve seen so many of these floating around, so I came up with the Smith Summer Bucket List of 2014.

So, I’m a realist and I know that there are probably a few things on here that will not get accomplished, but I’m going to try my darndest to do as many as we can.  Some, two at a time!

Last week, Landry finished swim lessons and one of the items on our list got crossed off.  She officially learned how to dive into the pool!

And, along with learning how to dive, she won the award for Most Improved!  So proud of our girl!

It rained this week a lot!  So, we took advantage of the rain and crossed off another item.  We went out and played in the rain.  She loves rain, and as long as it’s not lightening, we go and play in the puddles.

Also, since we are on the topic of fun summer, I got to go to dinner with my mom and sister the other night!  I love the relationship that we three share and seeing them is like being home to me.  I cannot wait for Landry to get a little older and then she can join us!

Our summer should be a good one!  I can’t wait to see all we do.

Hayden is 8 Months old!

Today, our little man is 8 months old!

Hayden is at such a fun age right now.  I look forward to picking him up from school every afternoon, because I know when I walk into school, he will have a huge smile on his face!

Eat:

He is still eating 4 bottles a day with 8 oz. in each bottle.  Hayden has some of the cutest little quirks, and one of them is when I’m feeding him his bottle, he crosses his legs.  It’s so funny.

He is also eating cereal and fruit/vegetables twice a day.  He loves all the fruits and vegetables we have tried so far.  I’m hoping he stays liking all types of food and doesn’t become picky!

We are still doing puffs and yogurt bites as snacks, and he loves both!

We also tried the strainer this month with some watermelon in it, and he loved it!

He also tried rice for the first time last week, and loved it too!

And last week we tried a baby numnum and he loves them!

So basically, he will shove anything in his mouth and eat it!

Play:

He is sitting up really well now.  It is so nice to be able to sit him on the floor with some toys and let him entertain himself.  He loves it!

He is such a happy baby!  The number one question I get asked is “is he always this happy?” The answer is yes!  He is always smiling and happy.

So, I took a picture last week and Tim threatened me within an inch of my life if I showed it, so I won’t be posting that one, but I will show you his head.  Landry loves to play dress up, and now that she has Hayden to dress up, he is not exempt from being dressed up like a girl!  And of course, I’m there to document it!

Sleep:

He is still sleeping about 12-13 hours a night.  He is such a great sleeper!  I put him down at about 6-6:30 for bedtime, and he sleeps until 6:30 the next morning during the week and from about 8:00-8:30 on the weekends.  He is also taking two naps a day still.  His naps are about 2 hours each.

Some things that happened this month:

Spending some cuddle time with mama

He loves angel!

He loves to pull on her ears.

She loves to sit by his high chair and wait for food to drop.

It’s a win win for both of them.

As I said, my parents got a new swing set, and he loved it!

Last week, I realized it had been a year since we found out we were welcoming a boy to our family.  I love having my boy!

Sometimes, I’m reminded that he is still my baby

Oh my goodness, I love him so much!  There are days where I feel like time is going way too fast.  I just want to slow down and enjoy my kiddos more.  God has been so wonderful to bless them to me.

Weekend post

This weekend was another great one!  So far, the summer has been good to us.  We’ve swam practically every weekend, and we are only three weeks in!  This weekend was very busy, but we did get a little bit of down time too.

Saturday, we headed over to Tim’s parent’s house to swim and get some sun.  I’ve mentioned before how Landry loves to dress like me, and our swim suits are no exception!  My girl and I in our striped bikinis!

Saturday night, Tim and I headed to a wedding.  We’ve known Lance since he was in our youth group at our old church and we were so excited to be able to have a night on the town without the kiddos!  It’s so weird that our youth group kids are getting married!

Sunday, we went to my cousin Stephanie’s graduation party.  I cannot believe my little baby cousin is graduating high school already!  I adore this girl so much, and Landry loves her too!

While we were at their house, Steph found her old pretty, pretty princess game and Landry loved it!  She got Grammy involved and they had a blast.  This game is definitely going on our list of new games to buy!

Today, Steph graduated and I got to go!  I’m so, so proud of this girl!
