Spring break 2016

Well it's Monday again. Getting back into a routine this morning was rough!

We had such a good week last week.

I specifically planned something fun each day so that Landry didn't get bored. She loved it.

Today I'm going to cover Monday- Thursday then tomorrow I'll talk about our weekend in Austin.

As I was researching things to do while Landry was out of school I came across visiting a fire station. I have a friend I've known since junior high that is a fireman in Irving. He of course agreed to let us come up there and tour the station and see the trucks. It was such a good idea. Both kids loved it. Hayden is obsessed with fire trucks right now. He knows how to spot them. So needless to say he was enamored.

On Tuesday we decided to use our season passes and head to Six Flags. We picked a great day to go. We got there right when it opened and it wasn't too hot yet. Both kids rode all their favorite rides then after lunch we were done and headed out.

Tuesday night Tim went to the Stars game with his work so we headed to my parents house to eat dinner and spend the night. Of course we had to get ice cream!

On Wednesday I took the kids to get their hair cut at Tims uncles shop.

After we were done there we had a picnic in the park and played for a while. One of Landry's friends and his family came too!

On Thursday we went with those same friends to the Dallas zoo. I have not been to this zoo in a long time. It was so kid friendly. Both kids had such a good time.

Hayden loved brushing the goats in the petting zoo.

All the kids got a pony ride too. Mine are now asking for a pony. #asksanta

We rode the train

And fed the giraffes!

And rode the carousel

Our week was so fun!

Landry cried last night when I told her she had to go back to school. Not to worry kiddo, summer is just a few short months away!!!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday!

This is a great Friday because it's the Friday before Landry's spring break!

I have a great week planned, let's just hope this rain goes away. Every day this week it has rained here and I'm about done!

Once again I'm linking up with Erika, Narcia and Andrea for Friday Favorites.

Read across America...
Last week Landry's school participated in read across America for dr Seuss's birthday. Hayden and I went to the stadium behind her school and read books. It was so fun.

Such a good big sister...
Landry has really gotten into the computer lately. She goes to a few websites for kids and plays games and reads. Hayden is monkey see monkey do these days so he thinks he has to do it too. She's so good to him sometimes.

Sweet relationship...
I said in Landry's seven year post how great of a relationship she has with my dad. My parents go to church with us which I love, and Landry sits by my mom usually every week. She requested to be seated next to Pop last week and I caught this on camera during the sermon. I just thought it was so sweet.

Twice in two days...
On Sunday, Landry's American Heritage girls troop went back to the water park she had her party at. She was so excited to go again! I have a feeling we might be going back a lot this summer!

Train tracks...
I know other moms of little boys can relate. I feel like my legs are train and/or car roads. Up and down my legs all the time. And I have the bruises to prove it!

Officially potty training...
Well it happened. I actually told myself we would wait and potty train Hayden this summer after swim lessons but he had other plans. Last week he said pee pee on the potty. I thought he was just repeating Landry but then before his bath he got up there and went! I couldn't believe it. I thought he was going to be difficult because I've heard boys are harder but just like he always does, he surprised me and picked it up quickly. So, we are officially potty training and in pull ups full time.

Date night with my mama...
My parents go to wine club every month and sometimes my dad is out of town so I get to go. Last night my mama and I had a date. I love her so much. We are so much alike it's scary and she makes me smile all the time. I thought it was funny because when I walked up to get my name tag it had my maiden name. It's so weird after 10 years of marriage to see that. Kind of took me by surprise!

Woohoo! I am so excited spring break is here. We have a fun weekend planned with my parents.

Let's get this party started!!!

Landry's 7th Burrr...thday Bash!

On Saturday we celebrated our girl with her birthday party

Let me take you back to around Halloween when Landry usually starts thinking about what kind of party she wants and the theme. She is definitely a girl after my own heart. She loves a good party theme. So she came to me and told me she wanted a pool party.

In February.

So I kindly told her that she had a winter birthday and pool parties aren't possible. Then I had a family friend hear me talking to my mom about what Landry wanted and she asked if I had ever heard of the Grapevine Rec Center. It's an indoor water park type center. Perfect! She was so excited!

I loved doing the winter pool party theme.

The food was easy. I found so many cute ideas on Pinterest. I just wanted snack type food since I knew the guests would be in and out and just want to nibble.

My cupcake lady made the cutest cupcakes with edible sand and I added sunglasses, umbrellas and flip flops to the top.

We invited all our closest friends

Dani and Bobby brought Brody and he loved the water!

Bobby took him down the water slide and both their faces were cracking us up!

All the big boys and little boys played basketball

Landry's grandparents

Then once the kids were done swimming we came in and sang happy birthday to her

This party was one of the most fun parties we have ever had! I'm so glad we did it.

Our weekend

It's March 1! Spring is almost here. Although to be honest, it's felt like spring here for a while now. I'm not complaining. I love this nice weather.

This last weekend was such a fun one. We got to spend some time with our favorite people.

Friday, Landry got out of school early so I picked her up and took her to lunch and to shop for her party this weekend. Sometimes I just need that one on one time with my kiddos. Landry thrives on alone time. Plus, she's at an age I can have a valid conversation with her, it's nice!

Saturday morning my boy and I wore matching plaid and converse. I'm pretty sure the matching will stop soon enough so I'll do it as long as he has no clue!

My whole side came to Landry's last game. They had a free throw contest and my mom got in on the action. If you know my mom at all you know she and I share our athletic abilities-none! But, she did a really good job.

After the game we all went to lunch and Landry pretty much stayed by Brody's side. She loves him so much and I think the feeling is mutual!

Sunday after church we took Landry to pick out her bike. My parents and Tims parents gave her money for her birthday and she's been begging for a new bike so we headed to Toys R Us and she fell in love with this hot pink bike!
Now she just needs to learn to ride it without training wheels.

Sunday afternoon I headed to Dani's house for our Oscar watching party. I took my favorite heels

And got to cuddle with this guy

Not a bad way to end our fun weekend!
