Friday Favorites

Another Friday is here!
This weekend we hardly have any plans and I'm kind of loving that!

Once again I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci with my favorite pictures of the week.

Talking to Brobee...
Last week Hayden kept walking around saying Brody's name over and over. I think he was missing him. So I text Dani and we facetimed so Hayden could get his Brobee fix. It was so cute. Brody just kept looking at himself in the phone and Hayden just kept saying Brobee over and over. I hope these boys are always close.

Gettin my hair did...
Friday I had a hair appointment and I sure needed it. My roots were looking awful. There is nothing better than a fresh color and cut. #exceptmaybeapedicure #andchocolate

Three day weekend...
Landry got out of school early Friday afternoon so when I picked her up in the car she was super pumped about her three day weekend!

It's like wearing a blanket...
So I've seen blanket scarves for a while now and was nervous about buying one. I didn't want it to look like I was getting eaten by the scarf! But I found one with colors I couldn't resist and I'm in love! Saturday was super cold here and it was the perfect day to wear it.

Best friends forever...
Saturday we went to Corby's birthday party. Hilary did such a good job with the party. The boys had such a good time. Hayden has about 6 boys at our church all within his age and I love it. They are all so cute. And yes, he carries his blanket everywhere. His new nickname is Linus :)

Little baker...
Landry came home from school a few weeks ago with a paper they filled out about what they wanted to accomplish this year. Landry wrote bake a cake. So Monday while she was off we baked a cake. She did it all her own. Cracked the eggs, added all the ingredients and mixed it. It was really good! She was so proud of herself!

Dentist visit...
Wednesday morning Landry had a dentist appointment. We love her dentist! They give the kids a balloon and treat when they leave. Hayden hasn't had his first visit yet but when we went back there to get her he got a treat and balloon too!

Planning my year...
My Erin Condren planner came in this week and I was so excited! I had one last year and I write everything in it. This year I did one with family pictures and I'm in love with it!

That's our week! Excited for our low key weekend!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday again!

As in typing this I'm getting my hair done. #praisethelord #rootsbegone

It's a three day weekend and we have lots planned!

Per usual I'm linking my favorite pictures of the week with Erika, Andrea and Narci for Friday favorites!

Dinner is served...
Let's face it, finding new recipes is not my thing. I'm no Mix and Match Mama, but I try! Last Friday I tried a new recipe and it was a hit with the family. I have these cute ramekin bowls I never use and made individual pot pies in them. They were the perfect size for our appetites.

A new activity...
Tim has been a referee at our old church for the Upwards league for years now. He loves it. A few months ago we mentioned to Landry that they had cheerleaders for the teams. She perked up really fast. She's not an athlete by nature so we've been trying to find something that suits her abilities and this is the perfect thing for her. I love that they pray over the girls and that there is no competition yet. She's got years to be competitive! She did so good and loves it! Here are her and Tim before her first game.

Good big sister...
Landry loves to read. The other day I overheard her reading to Hayden so I grabbed my phone and got this picture
It just cracks me up. Him listening to her read to her like a teacher. Love them.

Sweater dress love...
I love a good sweater dress with my boots. My sister got me this one for Christmas and it's so comfy!

Amen...
I saw this the other day on Pinterest and just thought it was so cute!

Out with old...
I've had an iPhone 5 for a while now. I'm not really into the newest model usually so when Tim approached me about upgrading our phones I was skeptical. I have friends who have the 6+ and love it. So here I am with my new phone. I love it!

Peanuts on the floor...
Last night was fundraiser night for Landry's school at Texas Roadhouse. We love this place. Loud-check, good food-check, you can eat peanuts and throw them on the floor-check! Hayden thought this was so fun, getting to throw his food on the floor. Now let's cross our fingers he doesn't try and throw our food at home on the floor!

That about wraps up our week. Here's hoping we have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday! I feel like this week kicked us in the booty. We are all dog tired and ready for the weekend! I love Friday favorites. I showcase my favorite pics from the week. I'm linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea.

Stop waiting...

I saw this statement on Pinterest last week and I love it! So many times we get caught up waiting for the next season or waiting for our kids to get older but one of my personal goals this year is to just stop and enjoy the moment I'm in. It won't last for long, so I need to enjoy this season while I'm in it and make the most of it!

Barber cut...
Last week Hayden got his first real barber cut. We've gotten his hair cut before by our friend but never a big boy haircut at a barber shop. Tim's uncle has been at this same shop since 1978 and his grandpa cut hair here too. I've been waiting for his hair to grow a bit and it was time!

He did so good! He sat still the whole time and just let uncle Larry do whatever he needed to do. I was so proud of my big boy!

My Christmas purchase...
I've been wanting new black boots for a long time. I'm pretty picky on boots. I need them to last and hold up through all my running around. Tim's cousin wore these super cute ones to Thanksgiving. I fell in love with them. So I used my Christmas money I got and purchased them the day after Christmas and got a great deal on them! Can't beat that.

I love them!

That can't be comfortable...
So a few weeks ago Hayden discovered tv. I mean we have it on in the house and we watch the news but he's never really shown interest in it until a few weeks ago. While Landry was out of school I let her watch tv when she does her chores or I let her watch Netflix on her kindle. Well I discovered somebody else watching too. And this is how he watches

It cracks me up. He does it on the couch too

He's a stomach sleeper too. Not quite sure how he does it. My neck would be so sore!

Still my baby...
Hayden rarely lets me hold him. He has to be sick or really tired to sit in my lap for long periods of time anymore. Yesterday we were just hanging out watching one of his monster truck shows and he just came and sat in my lap! Be still my heart.

I just love my baby! #dontcallhimababy #hesabigboy

They take after their daddy...
So if you've known Tim for any length of time you know how funny he is. He has a great sense of humor. It's probably one of the first things that attracted me to him. Well that and his dimple. When Tim proposed we were going to a Halloween party so we were dressed like nerds. I'll have to find those pics and post them. Anyways, one of my other goals this year is to get this house de-cluttered. We want to sale it eventually so I've got my work cut out for me. When I was cleaning out Hayden's closet yesterday I came across Tim's costume accessories. Both kids grabbed the wig and glasses and took off. Landry came back looking like this

And then Tim walked in the door from work and Hayden came down the stairs looking like this

Tim and I both couldn't stop laughing. He was so serious with it on. I can only pray they both got Tim's humor!

That about covers our week. It's been a good one but we are ready for the weekend. Landry has her first game she's cheering in tomorrow morning!

Last trip of the season

You know how much we love Six Flags! Since we had season passes this year we got lots of use out of them. I thought it would be fun to surprise Landry after school on Monday and take her for our last trip of the season. When she got in the car and I told her where we were going she got so excited!

This was probably one of the best days we have had here. With some kids going back to school in the metroplex, it wasn't crowded at all. We didn't wait long for any ride. Since we had Hayden with us we stuck to all the rides he could ride.

His cheese face!

Oh these two are my pride and joy!

We saw these characters while we were walking around. Hayden is not a fan of these types of characters!

This is Hayden not so sure of the ride we are about to ride!

We finished off our trip on the carousel

Since we got so much use out of our tickets this year we went ahead and renewed our family passes!

Show and Tell Tuesday- Introductions

Hello there! Today's show and tell series starts the new year by introducing ourselves. I love this idea!

Here's a little insight into who I am...

My name is Kara Smith

I've been married to my high school sweetheart Tim for almost 10 years,

I'm a mom to Landry who's almost 7 and Hayden who is 2,
I became a stay at home mom this past year and it's the best decision I have ever made.

I'm also a firm believer in Jesus Christ.

I have lots of friends

And a great family

My passion is working out
I'm a believer in all kinds of fitness. Not just weights. I take dance classes, I do insanity and strength training.

I love blogging! I don't blog every day but I try and get everything that happens to our family on here. My goal this year is to blog more.

So that's me!

I can't wait to read all of these!

Ringing in 2016

Today we go back to our regularly scheduled programming. Tim goes back to work, Landry goes back to school and Hayden and I go back to our normal routine. I'm going to miss them while they're gone. We had such a great Christmas break that I don't want it to end.

We had such a great New Years weekend. We decided on Thursday to head to my parents house and spend the weekend with them.

First though we went to the Boozers house to celebrate New Year's Eve with our friends. I just love our group of friends. Our kids get along really well and we always laugh so much with them.

That next morning we had our annual mimosas. I let Landry drink her orange juice out of a champagne flute and she thought she was so grown up! Cheers to 2016!

Saturday, Tim and I took advantage of being at my parents and went on a day date. We had sushi for lunch then went and saw Daddys Home and munched on yummy popcorn. I love our little dates. Sometimes you've got to just fit them in when you can!

The rest of the weekend we just relaxed and headed home Sunday. We went over to Tim's parents house for dinner Sunday night where Tim and Hayden shared a bowl of ice cream.
#likefatherlikeson

Such a wonderful weekend!
