Turning 35

So... Today is my 35th birthday. 35.  Thirty five. No matter how you say it, it doesn't change. I'm not sure why but this is a big birthday for me. I'm in my mid thirties now. Not that that is old, but it makes me feel like more of an adult. I remember my mom turned 35 when I went to high school and I thought back then that was old! But she was so young.

I thought it would be fun to reflect on my 34th year because it was a big one! So many life changing events happened this year.

I became an aunt.
I never knew I could love a baby that wasn't my own this much, but I do. Brody is one of the best things to happen in my life and I will always hold a special place for him.

I sent Landry to first grade.
Landry loved first grade and far exceeded my expectations of how smart she is. She amazes me daily.

I found my love for fitness.
I've always loved working out but this year I really kicked it into gear. I set goals for myself and met them and became strong. I loved seeing my body change into what it is today. I hope I continue this one for as long as I can.

Hayden turned 2.
Oh this boy. Seeing him turn two had me crying. I'm not sure why but he wasn't a baby anymore. I knew he was my last baby so every time he does something or something is his last I cry. But I love having a two year old and knowing he's turning three soon just makes me even happier.

I joined our church's women's commitee.
I absolutely love these women. They are from all stages of life and are always there for me when I need them. Being on this team is so fulfilling and rewarding.

Landry turned 7.
My girl. Turning seven was huge for her. She had a great party and just grew up overnight. I just love her.

We put our house on the market.
After weeks of praying over this we took the plunge and it payed off! We sold our house in two days.

I parasailed.
This was a huge one for me. I conquered two fears at once. This was one of the best things I have ever done.

I went to Disney...again.
We took a trip to the happiest place on earth. It was such a great trip and I had the best time.

I started leading one on one.
This was a big leap of faith too. Hilary asked me to help her lead a group in this study and it is one of the best yes's I have ever said. I am more fulfilled by this study and I love it.

We moved.
We moved in with my parents for the next year and love it! Another huge leap of faith for me. I prayed over this for a long time.

We said goodbye to our first baby.
Our sweet Angel passed away the day after we moved and broke our hearts. She will forever be missed.

Wow!
I didn't know how much happened to me this year until I started looking back. I cannot wait to see what 35 brings me!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I have so many pictures to share from the last few weeks!

I'm sharing our favorite pictures with Erika, Narci and Andrea for Friday favorites.

Girls nights out...
I've had a few adult dinners out lately and I just love them. It's such a good time to spend with your friends and unwind with no kiddos around! A few weeks ago we went out with some couple friends. I just love these people so much!

Then last week I went on a girls dinner out with some of my oldest friends. I have known two of these girls since elementary school and once since junior high. We had such a good time celebrating the bride to be!

We found Dory...
A few weeks ago we took Landry to see Finding Dory. It was such a cute movie and we had such a good time!

Bullet...
Dani, Bobby and Brody headed to Galveston last week and we got their dogs, Dash and Bullet. My kids loved having them. Since Angel has been gone they've really missed having a dog around and now they got two to play with!

Red, white and blue...
We celebrated July 4 with dinner out and listening to the fireworks down the street. I love wearing these colors to represent the country I love so much. I know there is so much going on right now around us and my heart breaks every time I turn on the news and I'm holding my babies a little tighter these days.

Go Rangers...
Last week Tim and I took Landry to our first game of the season. We did this a few times last year and she loved it. We went for firework Friday and it was a really good game!

Movie dates...
On Sunday Tim and I took a spontaneous date night. One of the benefits of living with my parents is we can just head out for a few hours when we need it! I love time with just him and I.

Then, the next morning Tims dad surprised Landry with a movie date and lunch. Landry is so lucky to have two grandpas who love her so much. They had such a good time and it was good for both of them to have that time together.

Mamas babies...
Last night I got home late from being out with my parents and both kids had already gone to bed but heard me come in and ran downstairs to see me. Both sat in my lap and just wanted to be by me. I know this won't last long. That I'll come through the door one day and they'll be gone so I'm going to cherish this time with them. #dontblink

Happy Friday!

Oklahoma City fried chicken trip

Yep...
You read that right!

I have a lot of catching up to do but I really wanted to get this little excursion on here first.

Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. We are obsessed. We watch it every time it's on. If it's an all day marathon, it's usually on in the background. So if he ever goes anywhere close or anywhere we think we will be visiting, we document it.

About a year ago we were watching and Guy went to a fried chicken place close to Oklahoma City. Tim and I both thought it looked yummy and we knew OKC wasn't a far drive so we put it in our back pocket and kept it in the back of our mind.

A few weeks ago we were sitting at the dinner table and I said I thought it would be fun to get up early and drive there, eat lunch and head back. We are known for a weekend away here or there. My whole family loves them. It gets you out of the norm and staying at a hotel is always fun!

My dad travels a lot so he gets a ton of hotel points and is always so gracious to share them with us. So we booked a room and waited for Saturday to get here.

We stopped for breakfast and then headed that way!
This family of mine is always up for an adventure. Dani and Bobby are too and I love that about us!

Oh my silly mom. I was teaching her how to take a good selfie and then she started making faces and I couldn't stop laughing.
Love her!

Landry loves sitting in the back in her own row!

We made it to lunch! It was really good chicken. We also got the okra, frito pie and a brisket sandwich.
We were so glad we drove here and tried it. We've been to 5 spots now. I have a list going of other places we want to visit also.

Ok, so I have to talk about my boy. All week we have been telling him we are going to stay at a hotel. Oh the joys of being two. He has been so excited all week. The minute we walked in he ran around the room and found his bed and just kept saying "I'm in a hotel". So sweet. He was so happy.

He and Landry share a room now but they've rarely shared a bed. I was a little nervous because they were in the living area by themselves and when I came out to check on them, this is what I found.
I teared up. They might fight all day but they love each other just as much.

I'm so glad we had this time to do this. We all had so much fun!
